Bachelorette Party

I had my bachelorette party on the weekend and it was awesome! My sisters had planned the whole day and hadn't told me anything so I didn't know what to expect.

My girlfriend came and picked my up and we went to my mum's house to meet my sisters and one other friend. My sisters got me to change into an outfit and we headed out in the "Meagan's Stagette Mobile". They took me to the Shooting Edge, a shooting range, where we picked out 3 different guns and got to learn how to load them and shoot them. It was a very empowering, scary, fun activity that teaches you how much you have to respect these weapons. It reaffirms that I would never, ever have a gun in my house.

From there we went back to my mum's house for a Shower my sisters had organized. A few more of my girlfriends showed up and we had finger sandwiches (with all the crusts cut off) and drank martinis with penis ice cubes! The funny thing was that not everyone even noticed they were drinking beverages with penis ice cubes!!!

Around 4:30 we had a special guest who, to everyone's surprise was a lady who is from a company called MisBehaven and brings massage oils, lubricants and sex toys! It was a blast...who would have known!

From there we got dressed to go for dinner and the bar. Needless to say there was copious amounts of drinking and we had an absolute blast. Looking back at the pictures...there are some I can't remember taking!! The way a Bachelorette party should end!

41 Days oh my!

Last I wrote I was getting ready to go for another dress fitting. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule as they needed a few more days to complete the alterations. Now I am going this coming Friday and I am very excited!

We met with our Videographer, Josh, and we had a blast. It was a bit awkward at first talking to the video camera but it got easier as the session continued. We felt very professional as we even had a lapel microphone! Josh has a great video camera and he got some very good angles during the shooting. I can't wait to see the final product at our wedding! We have to finalize the pictures of us growing up for him to add to the slideshow but other than that he is ready to film on the wedding day.

We spent an hour and a half with Scott and his wife Kelly, our photographer, in Fishcreek provincial park last Thursday taking our engagement pictures. We had a blast with the two of them. In the hour and a half Scott took over 500 pictures! We had a bit of a sneak preview of them and they look awesome. He is couriering over a CD of all our pictures so hopefully they will arrive soon and we will be able to look at them. We get to pick a couple of them but I am not sure it is going to be easy to pick only two.

My stagette is on Saturday!! I don't have any idea as to what is happening...all I know is that it is going on all day. My sisters are picking me up in the morning and I probably will not be going home. I will fill you in after the fact.

Our craft night is set for next week so we are busy trying to get everything finished before we have the crew come over to help finish our favors and programs.

Will keep you all in the loop as to the upcoming events.

55 days...

Wow! Here we go...the last two months are flying by already. I go for a dress fitting on Friday and I am so excited! This will be the first time I try on my gown with all of the alterations finished. The hem will be done, bodice fit and bustle set. I love the bustle of the dress because the shape the it takes makes it a completely new dress.

David and I are now finishing everything off. My goal is to have (almost) everything done by the end of the month. Then we will only have to seat the guests at our reception and we will be done! Ha...yah right...it's a goal, that's all I can say.

My mum has found a dress and she looks fabulous in it. It is one of those dresses that doesn't look like much when it is on the rack, however, looks like it belongs on the red carpet when it is on.

We have decided to meet our videographer at our old high school on Saturday to do our 'Love Story' shoot. It is the perfect place as it is where our friendship and romance blossomed. This will be shown at our reception and I am very excited about staring in our own movie!

That is really all for now. I will keep everyone posted as we progress with all the events in July.

2 months!!

Can you believe it? Two more months (less a day) until I am officially married! I can't wait. There is still a lot to do, but the time will come when none of that will matter anymore and the day will be upon us. What am I to blog about then? I am going to have to think about that!

Responses have started to trickle in and it is like a little surprise party every time you open one..."who will be coming to our wedding today"? We have to settle on the music for our reception and for our wedding video, finish our programs and favors and finalize flowers. Then we will have to touch base with everyone of our vendors to make sure we are good to go for the day.

One week Friday I get to go for another wedding dress fitting! I am in awe every time I put that gown on! I love it so much I can't even describe it.

In about a week and a half we have a video shoot with our videographer! We get to film our love story which will be included in the video presentation and slide show at our reception. I am really excited to get out and spend some time doing this together. i think it will be really cool and something we will probably never get to do again - star in a video production!

Dave and I also have our official engagement photos with our photographer in a couple of weeks. I am excited to actually get out with Scott and shoot! See what he does for us...and the creativity that stems from us getting outside.

My stagette is coming up too. I have been completely left in the dark with this whole thing. I have zero clue as to what is going on...just that I have to be available from about 9:00 in the morning on...I feel a little nervous about what my sisters have planned.

That's it for now...I promise to fill you all in on every thing that we are doing!

The dresses

Well, I think they might just make it in time! The bridesmaid dresses are due to arrive August 21 at the latest. What we are hoping is that they are similar to the bridal gowns which tend to arrive a week before their scheduled time. We are however going to have a back up plan and order similar dresses from another designer, Nicole Miller, that do not take as long to arrive and have them ready to go in case something happens to the Melissa Sweet dresses. Apparently, Evalina only needs 24 hours for turn around - worst case scenario - so fingers crossed the Melissa Sweet dresses will arrive and we won't have to resort to Plan B.

Invitations have started to be sent out - officially. I put the international and out of province invitations in the mail this morning and Dave and I are sitting down to finish the rest off tonight. So, according to our plan...all the invites should be in the mail by tomorrow morning!

That's it, that's all...for now!

90 Days and Counting!

Not that I haven't been counting all along, but we are officially down to 90 days! I can't believe how quickly time flies.

I had a dress fitting a week ago. I don't know if it is possible to love something more and more every time you see it, but that is what happens with my dress. I absolutely love it! I am so excited for my fiance to see me in it. I know his jaw will hit the floor! I love everything about it, the way it sounds, the way it moves, the way it feels...and of course the most important, the way I feel when I am in it!

We ordered bridesmaid dresses! The dresses are also from Melissa Sweet. We decided to save everyone the stress of my Mum making the dresses and to buy them. They aren't that much more expensive than if we were to go buy the silk ourselves...so for the few extra dollars it is worth it to get them set in. My sisters look fabulous in their dresses and they complement my dress extremely well. The catch, as of right now, they don't arrive until a week before the wedding. Evalina Schmidtke of Evalina Couture is in the process of trying to see if they can be delivered a week earlier so we have time for alterations and we aren't so close to the day. She has been an absolute joy to work with. You know when you walk into her salon that you will be treated like a princess and she does not disappoint. She is honest when it comes to what will look good and what won't. Evalina will not put you in an ugly dress. I don't think an ugly dress even exists at her salon.

What else...we are in the process of sending out our invitations. We bought $94 worth of stamps last week and are going to do all the stuffing and addressing tonight. This makes the whole wedding seem so much more real. Not that it wasn't before, but now, the invitations are going to be out and we are going to get all the replies and that makes me so excited!

WOW!!! 90 days! I can't believe it.

May...already!

Wow! How time flies. I can not believe it is already the middle of May. I have been so bad at updating my blog and I apologize to those of you who read this. I have been so incredibly busy with work it is unbelievable. I can see now why so many women opt for a wedding planner, when work gets hectic...wedding planning takes a back seat and if you do not have a lot of time to plan...it doesn't happen. Thank god we started planning this over a year ago and we have had time to do everything.

So...an update. We have now purchased our favor containers which I couldn't be happier with. They look exactly like mini old fashioned candy jars. They have stainless steel lids that seal so they will be perfect for dried tea. We have also decided on a lavender mint mix tea that Dave and I enjoy after a hard day at the office.

We spent 1 1/2 hours at Michaels the other night picking out ribbon for our favors and our programs and paper for our tissue packages, and the inserts for our invitations. I am really happy with all the colours we have chosen. The tissue packages and the programs will bring a range of blue into the ceremony since most of the colours right now are brown and ivory/creams/whites.

We have set up times with our photographer and our videographer for our engagement photo session and to do the filiming of our Love Story for our video! I can't wait to sit down with them and come up with some really neat ideas to showcase our personalities and our love and commitment for each other. We haven't had a chance to sit down and decide on locations for these but we might do filming around the place we met...our high school!

One more week until I go for my first gown fitting! I can't wait to put my dress on again. I love the way the material feels ad the weight of the dress. I love the way the train sits and of course the way it makes me feel like the most beautiful bride ever!

We only have 107 days left! Before we know it...we will be married!

149 Days and Counting

We have a videographer! Josh of Life Time Video has agreed to video tape our wedding and create a wedding video for us. I am very excited because the quality video Josh creates and the amount of time he spends developing and creating a special memento for us is unparalleled. He does a whole section for us as a Love Story as well as a slide show during our reception. He will come to our rehearsal to scope out proper camera angles and where he has to be for what. I am already excited about what his final product would look like.

We met with the cellist who is organizing the music for our ceremony. We have decided to have the VAD Ensemble string quartet play during our ceremony and our champagne reception. It was a blast meeting with her and listening to all the music that will be played. We got to choose what our grandparents will enter to, how Dave and his family will enter and how my sister, my parents and I will enter to. I am very excited about the music we have chosen as I believe it is a good reflection on the people Dave and I are and the types of music we enjoy listening to. Not too contemporary, but not overly traditional.

We have also chosen the paper to create our programs for the ceremony. It will bring some blue into the ceremony which I am looking forward to. One paper choice down, two more to go!

We have decided on what our favours will look like and how we are going to make them. We now just have to find the containers to successfully complete the package!

I am about ready to be finished with planning this wedding. Don't get me wrong, it has been a blast. However, we are starting to approach a year of planning and I am getting tired of it. I now just want the day to be around the bend and be able to start going to the spa more often, relaxing, getting my hair done, my nails done and all that fun stuff. I know that the wedding day will all be here and gone before I know it, but I am ready for it and I want the planning to be done so I will be able to enjoy the next few months leading up to the day.

Next on our list is sitting down with the parents to go over the final costs and guest list as invitations will be sent out at the end of May beginning of June. My sisters have to finalize their dresses, the guys have to go suit shopping, gifts have to be purchased, invitation inserts have to be made. Flowers and menu have to be finalized, hair and make up have to be decided on. Dress fittings will start soon, veil choice has to be made...OMG the list never ends.

170 + 1 Days to go

Less than 6 months to go! I can't believe how quickly time has flown by. In a less than a month Dave and I will have been engaged for a year. I am amazed that we have already spent a whole year planning this event. Then again I wouldn't have had it any other way. I have enjoyed all the planning and I think if we hadn't taken all this time, we would have been rushed and would not be able to cherish the time we get to spend making decisions together and working together to make this an amazing event for our guests and a day we will never forget.

There aren't too many things that have happened lately. My mum and I found material for the bridesmaid dresses so that is a big check mark off the list of things to do. It is a beautiful chocolate brown silk that I think my sisters will look beautiful in. We still haven't been able to decide on a style of dress for them so the search continues.

Haven't made any progress in the programs or the favors. Found out from my hair stylist that I will have to get up early to start hair at 7:00 in the morning...so much for sleeping in on my wedding day! However, it might not be a bad thing as I probably won't be sleeping too much that night and the earlier I have to get up the better...like Christmas morning!

We are meeting with the cellist that will be playing at our wedding tonight so I am really looking forward to that. We will get to listed to a selection of their music and decide what we would like played during our ceremony and our champagne reception.

That is about all for now. I will keep you posted on any other developments that happen as we move closer and closer to the day.

Ciao for now.

The Dress...no...Gown

So my gown has officially arrived! The weird thing is that I actually dreamt my dress had arrived before I got the message that it was in at the salon. Even more weird is that my dress was early and wasn't due in for another week.

Anyway, I went for my first fitting on Friday and didn't want to touch the dress in case I got it dirty. It is so different when you know this is it...this is the one you will be wearing the day you say your forever vows. Once it was on I didn't want to take it off. It has to be the most spectacular gown I have ever seen in my life. As my fiance tends to frequent this blog, I can't go into too much detail other than to say I love it even more than when I tried on the sample dress and it is more than I could have ever imagined. The whole package...hair, makeup, jewelery, shoes, veil and gown is going to be unbelievable - if I do say so myself!

I go back in a few months for another fitting as my designer doesn't want to make too many adjustments this far out from the wedding...194 days to be exact. Did I mention I am in a triathlon two weeks before! Yep...that is why there won't be too many adjustments as I continue my training. She has cautioned me not to loose too much weight! Isn't that what every bride dreams of someone saying?

Anyway...the planning continues and we have to start looking for paper and designing our programs and get our favours worked out.

Ciao for now.

One month again!

I am so bad right now at keeping this blog up to date. I have been so incredibly busy at work...I don't know how some brides plan a wedding in less time.

Okay...let me think about what we have done in the last month. Not too much really. I bought my shoes which I was really excited about. I had a hard time thinking I was going to spend $200 on a pair of shoes that I was only going to wear for one day (don't know why that didn't come into play with my wedding gown but...it didn't!) I found these awesome shoes that incorporated everything I was looking for - not too tall, not bridal white, rhinestones and comfortable and best of all...$75.

Our DJ has been booked and now we need to start thinking about the type of songs we would like played at our reception. This has turned out to be harder than you think.

We have begun the Videographer search which again is taking some time to decide exactly what type of video we would like and how much we would like to spend.

Our honeymoon has been booked! We have, after quite a lot of thought and discussion, decided to go to Hawaii. We are going to Oahu and are staying at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore. It looks beautiful and I am so excited to get there, even though that means our wedding day will be over, however...our marriage will have just begun.

We had our taste test at the Ranche last week and it was amazing! It was awesome to finally sit down with the Coordinator there and go through the logistics of the day.

The food we tried was unreal. The hors D'oeuvres were beautifully created and tasted even better. It was a really tough decision when it was all said and done...but I think our meal is going to be amazing!

Being there for dinner and looking out over the ceremony location confirmed the fact that Dave and I have chosen the best place to get married! We are both so excited for the actual day and we just hope the weather cooperates and we can have our dream outdoor ceremony.

Finally, my gown has arrived!! I am going for my first fitting tomorrow afternoon and I can't wait. It has been four months since I last put it on and I am so excited to put it on again.

I will try and keep this better up to date than I have in the past.

Cheers,

MS

oh...I almost forgot...199 days to go!

Wedding Plans Continue

I can't believe it has been almost a month since I have posted. Time seems to be flying by. Dave and I are getting back into the planning frame of mind. We are about to book our DJ as well as our Videographer. I am excited about the Videographer because it will be a momentous documentation of our wedding day. A way for us to look back on our big day and remember the vows we took and the family and friends that were there to celebrate and support us. Maybe even one day our children can look back and seem Mum and Dad when they got married.

We booked our wedding cake, which I am thrilled with. We have gone with something a little more wacky than I thought, but our ceremony will be very traditional and then our reception we can add colour and fun. We decided on this cake bakery that has made a name for itself as making fun, fabulous and delicious cakes.

231 more days to go and now the search is on for our favours, paper for our programs and a bunch of the other little trinkets that will make the day even more special. These will inevitably take the longest amount of time to complete but we will have a craft night to get these all done. Bridesmaids dresses are also on the radar so I will be going out with my Mum and my Sisters to look at patterns and material shortly to get those on the go.

Lots of other things on the go. I will write later.
