It has been 17 days since I last wrote. Dave and I decided to take the month of December off from planning our wedding. There are so many other things to do during this month and we cherish the fact we are lucky enough to actually stop planning for 30 days!
That being said, there isn't a lot to update you on. We did register for some of our wedding presents at the Bay. We still have to go back as there were many things that did not find their way onto the list. Other than that, we have used December to get ready for Christmas, which is fast approching.
With 259 days left until the big day...I will leave you and be back writing in 2007!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
Cheers,
MS

275 Days!
Yesterday was a busy day. Both Dave and I took the day off and spent it together. We went to see our jeweler, Ian Davidson, of Hunter Davidson, and picked out our wedding bands. They are amazing. I love mine as it has diamonds all the way around the ring and they are set off centre so that the diamonds are not covered up by the diamond in my engagement ring...very well thought out by Ian. Dave's...well what can I say...he actually swore when he put it on! It is an amazingly wide, 18 karat yellow gold ring that suits his hand so well. It is definitely one of those wedding bands that will be noticed and that isn't exactly the same as mine, yet they have similar aspects to them that don't make them look completely different.
We also met with our marriage commissioner last night, Soleiha Mahrcell, and I was blown away! She is so amazing and the way the ceremony unfolds will be spectacular. The personalization and rituals included will make the day that much more special and I believe our guests will love every minute of it. While Soleiha was going through the events of the ceremony and some of the passages she will read (she has them memorized actually) made me cry. I actually had tears welling up in my eyes as I was sitting in her living room. I can't imagine what I will be like when it is all happening for real.
She will be perfect for what we are looking for in a ceremony and Dave and I agreed that we believe this will be one of the most touching, emotional ceremonies we have ever attended. My prediction...there will not be a dry eye in the house.
Cheers,
MS

Update to the Parents
It is an extremely cold day here today in Calgary...-40 to be exact (with wind chill). We just wanted to let everyone know we have found someone to marry us...a big relief on both our parts as we hadn't been able to find anyone and the wedding is getting closer by the minute. We have found a woman by the name of Soleiha Mahrcell to officiate our ceremony. It is a bit of a long story in the way we found her, but we believe she will be able to provide the ceremony Dave and I hope for. She works closely with Nomi Whalen (Ed Whalen's widow) and as Nomi was unavailable to perform our marriage ceremony, Soleiha will. She has sent us a ton of information and a questionnaire to better know Dave and I which I think is really cool. She has asked questions about how we first met, how Dave proposed and what we most love about each other. I personally am really excited about it!
Dave and I picked up our center piece vases yesterday from IKEA, 44 of them to be exact so that is a big check mark off our list of things to do. We met with our florist last Tuesday to come up with an idea using the vase. Jillian (florist) is amazing and has come up with some really ingenious ideas for the flowers in our wedding.
Our invitations have arrived and so now, as Kate and Candice are saying, they get to sit in our closet in their boxes and collect dust until we send them out next summer. We are really excited about them, they look 100 times better than I could have ever imagined and fit so well with everything we have been doing so far.
Other than that, everything is moving along as planned. Dave and I are going to register on Saturday at the Bay...who would have thought you have to book a week in advance to go and register for gifts?

Invitations
283 days to go and our invitations have arrived. I am so incredibly happy with the company we ordered from. From the day we gave them the go ahead to order to the day they arrived was only a week and a half! So impressed.
I love our invitations even more now that I have seen them with our names and our designs! They are a really great size, being a little bit bigger than normal and they are nice and heavy (that is going to kill us when it comes to postage, but completely worth it).
Other plans are coming along nicely. We have finalized flowers and centerpieces so I am really excited about that. I can't wait now until we see the final arrangements.
Ciao for now.

The List
291 days to go! Time seems to by flying by. It feels like it was only yesterday that we got engaged. Now we have our venue, invitations, our florist is booked, photographer and of course...my dress! As many items as I have crossed off the list, there are a million others that are added.
We are getting married at the most spectacular location ever! The Ranche Restaurant in Fish Creek Provincial Park feels like you are at some family mansion complete with white picket fence and fields as far as the eye can see. This place is a little piece of paradise tucked away in the park out of the hustle and bustle of the city. A truly romantic setting.
The invitations...they will be here in a week! I know a lot of people will think that with more than nine months to go before the wedding, I am insane to already have the invitations, but I couldn't risk them no longer being in print because they are perfect!
My fiance and I finally settled on a florist after visiting three different places. This was the one thing that took us a lot more time that we had originally anticipated. We are thrilled with Anne Paterson's designs and creativity. Our designer has come up with some truly original ideas, that I never would have thought of.
Our photographer is awesome. His personality and demeanor fit perfectly with everything we wanted in the person who would be given an inside look into our wedding day. His way of capturing the feelings and emotions of the day is unparallel.
My dress!! Well, I can't say a lot about it just in case my fiance checks out the blog. All I can say is it is everything that I hoped for and more!
